im going to be making the 1v1 and 2v2 bo3 for the group stages and keeping it as 1 point. i will extend it to bo5 come the semi final stage though.

i really like the idea of for the 1v1 stage come the semi final making it 1 home pick each and 3 random rounds but we can do it as before of 2 home picks each and random decider. thoughts?

i appreciate the help, i will be in touch :)
As for the picks, I think once they're posted they should be subject to no changes apart from changing veto'd picks, say 4-5 days before the games are due to be played (and you should ONLY be able to change veto'd picks, not shuffle your entire map list around), gives people a little time to practice for higher quality games, and ensure the correct players for the maps are on. That's my 2 cents, I thought the whole swapping map picks around minutes before playing and the veto shuffle game was beyond ****ed last TIW.

I would much prefer if we had maps sorted before the day of the games but it was a hassle chasing for maps mainly because clans didnt know who would turn up on the day. Most voted to give maps 1 hour before the games in the last event but as always im asking what do people want to do this time.

I think it worked out well in the finals last time when we agreed with XceL/dv8 to post the map picks 1 hour before the games started, unforeseen circumstances happen and people who intended to show up often can't make it, so trying to pick maps 1 week before when you don't know who will show up doesn't work out well.

In the Semi's then make sure they are worth more then one point. Really, otherwise not enough reward for so much effort.

What do you suggest exactly? making 1v1 and 2v2 both worth 2 points is exactly the same as having them worth 1 point... and making 1v1 and 2v2 together worth the same amount as the 3v3/4v4 round has already been explained why it wont work at all.

Just keep them at ****ing Bo3. Why on Earth do they have to be Bo5 when they're going to be Bo3 in group stage?

It doesnt have to be changed to bo5 though we did do it before. The thinking behind it is simple to make the point harder to get and to show better a clans overall ability in 1v1 and 2v2. Think of it this way in bo3 your talking 1 map pick each and 1 random round, in this scenario assuming each clan wins both their home picks its more likely gonna come down to the luck of a random decider. Yes the random decider is the best way to determine who gets the point but by having more games and we are only talking about 1 extra game each potentially we are reducing the luck factor for the point.

With that said i will as always go with the majority but i think by going bo5 in the semi finals we are reducing any luck factor

If it's gonna be more than bo3 gotta give more than 1 point or it's ****ed to play 5 games for 1 point.

That's why I said make all 3 games random. Home maps in 1v1 is dumb in a tournament.

We could do that in the semis if people want it but i wouldnt do it in the group stages as i feel it puts non seeds at a disadvantage. I do like the idea of more random for 1v1 for sure i would prefer to do that if we are staying at bo3 come the semis than go for 1 home map each and a random round.

Preferably though id like 1 home pick each and 3 random games for 1v1 come the semis. We could of course have this just in the final?

having home picks for 1v1 is not a problem at all I feel.. theres a random decider atleast to close out the set but just go with the majority as usual.

Just following on from what Ben mentioned earlier about giving non seeds something heres a few suggestions:

1. 4 vetos - an exta veto
2. They have 1 home pick in total throughout all the sets that is immune from vetos. Basically means they have one immunity
3. Seeded teams cant pick home maps in the 1v1 section and have to go random, while non seeds can have a home pick
4. All of the above

Im not sure just trying to think of ways to create a more even playing field

or just have teams play on the same playing field? dv8 is easily the strongest non seeded team... arguably the best CBA team in the tournament atm and they are dedicated and learning bloods at the same time.. I doubt teams want to be known for wins based on advantages or losses because of disadvantages.

Will let a team know how much more they need to work to be at a higher level... and if a top team wins convincingly it should make them want to practice more or wake them up

Dv8 had Cena/Krasic/Vezir/Kuvvy and anyone else relevant from XceL which made them dramatically stronger in bloods. Now they have some high quality CBA guys trying to learn blood maps. I don't think Dv8 have any unfair advantage.

Home maps in 1v1 is just going to be Mike/Charlie playing Khans, or Eddy/Vezir playing CBA/Hero same civ, or Gary playing RCB, Krasic in AB etc. Going to be boring for the most part, at least random is testing two nominated players across a large list of maps that are voted in and would hopefully make more exciting games.

You can run it like last year, it worked well enough. I think it can be improved to conserve time and produce better games.

Branching onto what Ben said... I think if were going for the same idea... every map pick where choice of civs are a big deal I think to avoid boring games that people dont want to see both sides should get a say in the civs.. if its a 3v3 match the team who picked the map picks 2 of the civs.. but for 2v2 (both teams pick 1 civ) and if its 4v4.. both sides pick 2 civs each.

Otherwise some of the 2v2 matches could just turn into 1v1 bore matches none want to see.
