I think a veto should Completely remove a map from the set, and map picks should be confirmed a week before or something. Having people change their maps 10 mins before they play the matches and play the shuffle game with vetos was just painful.

It just gets silly when you get clans whoring the only maps they can play.... also complex, it's a clan war; the winner should represent the best clan (inc. the best players) at common maps.
I think we should keep it like this; 2 1v1s, 2 2v2s, 5 3v3/4v4 with 4v4 being preferable (if teams have enough).
So my idea would be pick 9 maps decided on by all clans, a good example in my opinion would be (from all clans.. vote); CBA, CBA Hero, RCB, Smosh, Vet, Gwarz, WoA, Khans/Path (one or other) & decider random TG where by the first 8 map clans get to pick the order/ie. which are 1v1 2v2 etc. but all have to be played, random TG for decider and map only saved IF both teams agree.
I'd also encourage, at the very least to let other clans play; I'm sure we can field 6-8 rather than 4.. I have been speaking to a few, like DZ for example who would be entirely happy to merge with other 'less recognised' clans in order to train up & compete in the tournament.
The only thing we need is a good splitting system (seeding) and imo splitting 7th eot separate sides (as both favourites I think & last both in last TIW final) and then splitting XceL & ViCiOuS between the two and putting the other clans at random (though I would suggest if 8 clans further splitting dv8 and the next strongest clan to ensure one side of bracket isn't significantly easier!!).
Any thoughts? What to take home from my first bit is don't have too many maps!! it just gets pathetic with veto this veto this and clans asking for maps nobody plays anymore lol.

Kinda agree.
I'd blacklist the following for TG:
Spider
Any AoK blood map that isn't Radical/Nova
With 1v1 I don't think it matters as most maps get played at least a bit.

Spider and Graves get left out in random tg because of the colour issues these maps have when played in random tg, that doesn't mean they are bad when you can set the colours like in TIW. If there werent colour issues with these maps they also would be easily playable in random tg. They were once famous for a reason.

Clans have their strengths and weaknesses.. if you are a better overall team you will have more maps to go to so you should have an advantage and it shouldnt matter if a clan is 'whoring" the only maps they can play
so bo3 1v1 bo3 2v2 and bo5 3v3/4v4? sounds fine.
I think the way maps will be selected is the same way as we did it last time... each clan picks a total # of maps in each set and the majority of the votes will be what the maps are.
most of the maps included in the last TIW were maps all teams could play at somewhat of a level... and were voted in atleast 3 times (3 seperate clans)... so no map will be included that only one clan wants to play if thats your issue.
I assume for this tournament, if we pick a team of 4 players, that we can use any combination of the team? Also, there are no reserves to replace anyone unless for some reason one or more members cannot participate anymore?
We may be small or not as well noticed in the current CS community, but I can assure you we got at least a handful of active players. Albeit we aren't that skilled as the rest and don't play much besides CBA/Hero, but we can at least participate and show that there are more than just 4 clans "in control of Voobly." Perhaps we might cause an uproar by upsetting one of the top clans here. =P

I strongly recommend you talk to your clan and see that they are fully motivated to stick through the tournament no matter what results may happen... and that you guys have at the very least 6 members wanting to play... but yes you can use any variation of your team you want.

We should collectively choose not to pick maps that are played 'cheaply' or maps that do not work in team games.
Spiders not fun 4v4. Its not a team map. Its fine for 1v1.
Germs is awful now, it only causes grief for everyone.
Herofest is awful and take too long.
Art of War takes too long.
MCB maps are pure camp.
This is a matter of objective reasons for excluding maps. Some maps are just not good for certain settings. If clans are voting on this I'm just asking that you don't choose poor maps for the sake of trying to get cheap wins.

In an ideal world objective reasoning would work but all things are subjective. I would argue that there is alot of TG in spider and germs. These maps just get played differently then they used to be played, doesn't make them inferiour because oldschoolers have sentimental feelings about the good old days. We just have to accept Germs to being the next cba lol(it hurts me too). In spider there are complex tg dynamics to keep your ally on the hill while you yourself don't get hilled, at the same time trying not to feed while trying to get your ally on his enemies hill. Who gets 12 razings ? do others just burn razings or also start razing ? When to start razing ? It is a hard complex map. I can go on and on but you get my point.
AOW and Europe shouldt be part of any CS tournament. I dont have enough knowledge about MCB to say anything.
The last TiW had 3 stages: 1v1, 2v2, 3v3/4v4. It also had 3 vetos. If you remove the 1v1 and 2v2 stages to save time and trouble, remove some vetos too. I still cant say if we participate or not but if there is only a TG stage with 3 vetos, we wont be playing for sure because as Ben already said in one of his posts, we in dv8 are only good at CBA/Hero/CBX and maybe AB/Lustful. If three of those maps could be vetoed then I have absolutely no motivation to play in this as we would end up playing only bloods. This of course applies to other potential clans too who prefer playing CBA like maps.
The idea of a veto removing the vetoed map entirely from the round is bad because its the same result as described above. If clans like dv8, Epic or DZ for example have no opportunity to play the only maps they are good in then there is no motvation left to play at all. In the last TiW there were 4 castle blood maps to pick from (CBA, Hero, CBX, RCB) and by feeling 20 blood maps. I strongly disagree with those saying the last tournament heavily favored CB clans.
Not seeding us might be a good idea. That way you could already plan ahead without having to worry about whether we are playing or not. Also, if we decide to play, we can already collect some experience vs other clans who are also not good in bloods like us.
If any, Army, you should make the 1v1 bo3 and the 2v2 bo5, not the other way around.
Eot and 7th are gonna end up in the finals anyway, so why dont they just war each other instead. Saves the trouble of a big tournament.

I think the only one suggesting getting rid of the 1v1/2v2 was Ben based on his timezone and work schedule.. pretty sure the 1v1/2v2 stages will stay as most will want that. Whether the idea of a veto removing the entire map from all sets is still undetermined or keeping things as last TIW and you use a veto to remove a map from that one set (can still choose the same map in the other 2 sets) if it was voted in for all 3 sets.
It was said the last tournament favored CB teams for the simple fact your vetos were useless (3 CBAs were involved.. and 3 CBA heroes... so ultimately if you wanted to veto a CBA in 1v1.. they can just pick it in 2v2 or TG.. and if you used all 3 vetos to get rid of CBA in 3 different sets... you still had to play CBA Hero regardless.. and RCB was in 1v1 and TG as well.. as well as CBX.
Hopefully you guys play.. think Eot 7th XceL and ViCiouS should be seeded.. 2 from each per group (doesnt matter which)
I like the idea of more tgs so im all for that bo5 3v3/4v4 and bo5 2v2 as well.
+1

AoW is known for taking upwards of three hours sometimes lol. 3/4 top clans really want europe and the weaker clans can veto europe.
Totally agree with koolsav
