Voobly messenger and voobly lobby (medievil siege lobby) crashing most

Hi Support,

I've had this issue for a while now and it's really disrupting my game time. Every 30 or 40 minutes my medievil siege lobby (and sometimes voobly messager) just randomly disconnects, often when I am in a game. This means that I drop from my aoe2 games each time and am starting to get a bad reputation from it.

I have tried the following fixes with no luck yet:

- Using a separate computer. I am currently using two different computers, both windows 10 I believe.
- Purchasing a new modem
- Purchasing a USB wifi adapter to use for my laptop
- Uninstalling and reinstalling voobly (on both my computers)
- Since the issue started a few months ago, I have changed address and am with a new ISP. Still hasn't fixed the issue.

Ideas I have had but haven't tried yet:

- Uninstalling and reinstalling age of empires 2
- Factory resetting one of my computers (this is such a hassle, I don't want to it unless we know it will fix a known issue

Can I please get some advice on what to do? I'm almost giving up at this point.

You are using internet over Fibre / DSL / cable?

Hi Chris,

I am in Australia so I think our national broadband network is fibre to the premises. I'm using wifi from my router, not a cable.

Rename and recreate the three sub-folders in the Voobly Mods directory and re-enter the client / game lobby. Then wait for all downloads to complete BEFORE doing anything.

Can we please verify, whether the issue is caused by WiFi? If possible, please use a network cable to see, whether you still have those random disconnects.

Hi Chris,

Today I tried using a brand new ethernet to connect my pc to the router/modem via a cable. I still dropped out of the medieval siege lobby mid-game and then dropped from the game.

Any thoughts on what else I can try?

Also Chris, sometimes when I am playing my entire voobly just closes as well which kicks me from the game. It doesn't happen as often as dropping from the lobby, but it happens enough to mention that as well.

As you can nicely see, you complete disconnect from the internet / go offline and then your ISP assigns a new ip address, which appears to be a technical problem with your ISP. Same happened on Tuesday and Monday. I'd call them and open a technical support ticket for further troubleshooting. :)

Hi Chris,

If I create a static IP address through my router/modem settings for my PC that I play on voobly, will this help the issue?

I've attached a screenshot now of one that I created as an example.

The problem is related to your internet connection, the WAN IP address assigned by your ISP. Your ISP assigns the ip address, that's nothing you can do. RFC1918 ip addresses such as 10.0.0.0/8, 172.16.0.0/12, 192.168.0.0/16 are not routed on the internet and can freely assigned within your own network. However, the problem isn't related to the local ip address of your PC. Please call your ISP and tell them, that your internet keeps disconnecting.
