i'm not sure how this works but if i take a video or screenshot of unmodded aoe2 and play around with resizing it such as by clicking and dragging the window to various sizes, these patterns come and go and shink and grow..
somehow this pattern is built into the unmodded fog of war as some kind of optical illusion that is only visible at certain (re)sized resolutions..
its obvious in OBS and can be difficult (or impossible, i haven't figured out how) to make it go away in recordings.

That's what I was refering to. Try changing the resolution of your monitor or the in game one. Do you play in fullscreen or in window?
resolution of my system and in the game is 1920X1080. i play full screen
Try first setting the resolution of your OS to the recommended resolution and then adjust the game resolution to the identical resolution e. g. 1920 x 1200 or 1920 x 1080.
i dont know why but i see the whole game like, the game is in a cage with transparent black lines with white squares on the non-explored religions.
screenshot attached.
if you know how to fix it, please let me know

in the game->visual mods->nothing is checked
where else to disable?
just figured out that, if i uncheck above the issue goes off. and if i enable that i get the same issue.
but if i keep it uncheck then i can see only a quarter of the game screen rest of the screen goes out of the monitor.
