I have tried this for many years and it really is a pain... you will have less headache if you play in a VM. :)

Only in VMware Workstation may I add. :) VirtualBox generally has a lot of issues running games as well.

Wine-staging allowed me to run AOT and Voobly together, but it is unreliable, so I wouldn't recommend it. The client tends to crash often in Wine, for me at least.

As mentioned in my last post, it's possible, but you have to spend a lot of time figuring everything out, as things may differ from distro to distro.
