suddenly directdraw error

windows 11, installed voobly, and it worked the first time.
now today i try to join a game, host a game, or just run the .exe

"Could not initialize graphics system. Make sure that your video card and driver are compatible with DirectDraw."

Most likely this is a driver issue of your graphics card or chipset driver. Please install all pending Windows Updates and graphics / chipset driver.

Render in 32-bit color fixed it for me.

With the latest client, those recommended game room settings are applied automatically. Just fyi.

i followed your link, put all settings as specified, still does not work.
there is no error msgs anymore, but when I click join game or launch, then the game does not start

ok after upgrading amd adrenalin edition, it suddenly works. the game starts.
however in the pre game settings room, the window is not fullscreen

If the recommended game room settings are not working, your problem is related to a driver.

That's actually intended, as long as it later works in game.

alright now i found it that it still doesnt work if i have a steam game open like counterstrike, it only works if i close CS... why is that?

It's a 25 year old game mate... and if you are referring to CS2, it's a game that is pretty much still Beta. lol

im talking cs 1.6. so now i found the issue, as long as cs 1.6 is running, aoe2 will not start on win11

This could be related to VAC.
