You can do that from the admin panel of your team site. Use the last tab called 'Owner/Disband'.

He is the last member of the team... Unless something changed, he can not leave the team...

But, He can make a new account, make that new account Team Founder, then he can leave with the Ride_The_Jive account...

As far as I remember it...

He can also remove the tag in team settings, he will still be a member of the team but you will not see the Tag anymore...
