I think some of 7th members are going to play if situation 3, because they will feel less pressure to defend their title and just play for fun.
7th already dont have that. They cant field the same team as they did in previous TIW's regardless. (Efkan & gary were big parts in their TIW wins) and its unlikely someone like Phurris will be back to compete for this. The way I see it they have 3 maybe 4 guys that could come back and play and they can just play with them + a mixed team of friends. No one will claim to have beaten '7th' and with that said Eot isnt interested in doing a 5 roster 'team' tournament so if thats the case you guys can count us out and we just all let CS die.
Situation 1
One clan - one team -> Big clans will hover surplus players who will maybe play one game in the entire event and then just spectate. A chance that they will also recruit wildcards to their roster from the viable players pool. Small clans, if present are made out friends playing for a cause or certain competitive players teaming up with others to offer a challenge. Outcome -> we will see the same big and old clans reaching Top 4 as per previous TIWs, assuming we even get more than 4 clans to attend.
Situation 2
One clan - many teams with limited roster size -> Big clans unlikely to hover players as A and B and maybe even C teams would get created. I imagine Army would limit the roster size for teams maybe around 6? Big clans would still probably recruit wildcards to support a roster. Players per roster play more matches and not just for certain niche scenarios. Small clans are more likely to form a team, as old/big clans are not behemoths anymore. Outcome -> we will see 8 or 8+ teams enter, could be interesting Top 4 or one clan getting many teams in it, who knows?
Situation 3
No clans - just teams with limited roster size -> TIW was mainly about clans competiting, so this would be changing the idea somewhat, no more clan bragging rights, no more war feeling. However, more teams enter and overall event would be more challenging. A bad/small chance of forming a giga-team that beats everyone hands down which will not be interesting. 8 or 8+ teams enter and more people are tied to playing the games. Higher chance for new people/strays to attend. Outcome -> only the strongest teams are in top 4, possibly no clan feeling what-so-ever, could have a very unexpected and amazing final depending on the teams formed.
DISCLAIMER: Outcomes given are just my own speculations coming from how previous TIWs have functioned and from my own tournament hosting experience; given outcomes are not necessarily correct, but they could be, if the hypotheses hold.
Feel free to come up with your situations and ideas on what formats you would like to see and/or what is the best in your opinion. I, myself, prefer option 2 where every clan does not have an unlimited roster in order to have niche players for niche scenarios, but in exchange they have free will to field multiple teams. As I see it, TIW was meant to be about overall skill of a clan, though one can argue, if about the high overall skill of the players in the clan or the wide variety of scenarios they can cover together as a clan, regardless of the players overall skill.
I'm obviously for Situation 1. You could also make that with a roster cap if people have such an issue with larger rosters but realistically no clan will be fielding more than 1 team (two biggest clans are xCs & Eot currently and B teams would more or less be a joke.)
Theres also a money variable this time around which we have never really had before. $200-300 or so from a Dave sponsor & then a $100-200 buy in fee for all teams to compete & winner takes all.
We had a pretty good surge in activity the last few weeks and a lot of interest from old & inactive players during the wars as well. If there has ever been a time to get another tournament like this done it's now, waiting too long and people will all forget and move on again.
What was the amount of roster cap did you have in mind? Javi and Cena mentioned 5 which is the standard competitive games roster for a team in CS:GO, LoL, DotA 2 I guess. I mentioned 6 since I counted +1 for the coach spot who could be counted as a wildcard in many custom scenario situations or something.
I did not see a roster lock thread for TIW 2015, but here is 2016 https://vooblycommittee.voobly.com/forum/thread/236616
Most are in between 10 and 20 players listed as their roster, with the small exception of 'IC' who probably listed everyone in the clan.
I do understand AoC cannot be counted as a mainstream competitive game, especially CS, if I recall correctly some RM events go up to a roster size of an 8, though still majority seem to be +1/+2 from the amount of players required to do a ?v?.
Dunno what Army has in mind either yet.
Though I wanted to remind that TIW is still a tournament and not a full on clan war where everyone is included, atleast from my point of view. I have nothing against how Army has run it with limitless roster on the previous years, but it is just how I felt that some contenders are left out, because of not being able to form a team and rather just joining an existing clan to play for them. Like the time dv8 and XceL were merged, even if it would have been grand to see them as separate contenders, but then they would have been weaker than before.

If it's a 5 players Team event there's no need to count Eot in, in fact, theres no clan in; it's just guys making up teams and playing so no idea why u have to declinee it like that...
And also, assuming the prize pool teams having a 5players limit is really good, I always liked short players limit for events since it will basically prove which is the best overall team, making everyone play atleast 2-3 times... if this ever happens it'll just show whats the currently best overall team

Why are you telling us what to do? Why are you arguing semantics?
If its a 5 person lock, guys from eot won't be playing? Better you pedantic gimp? Its simply not something that interests any of us, and thus you can likely count eot players out in this scenario. That's just how it is.

We already started with immaturity in a "serious" post.
Situation 1 is the classic one for a tiw Situation 2 is the most convenient, if the most active clans of now will not mind having a team B to give their other players a chance to compete too Situation 3 is not tiw, it is simply a team tournament.
It would be very interesting to see Zanchy and Efkan return to 7th, maybe everything would change a bit.
It could also include a rule, of 'no clan' players, can sign up individually and form a 'clan' so that they are not left out.

Can speak from me and some teammates we will play only if it happens like situation 3 too.
