Cannot open Voobly after changing Messenger settings

I was tweaking the settings on the "Messenger" tab. This is what I did:

- unchecked the "minimize to tray when closing" option and unchecked the "open messenger on startup" (not really sure though, because I can't open Voobly to confirm)
- closed the Messenger by clicking the "X"
- back to the game lobby, I tried to reopen the Messenger, so I clicked some menu like "see friends" or something.

After that, Voobly closed, and I could not open it again. When I try to open, the only thing that I notice that happens is that the Voobly icon briefly shows on the system tray (less than 1 second). Restarting the computer didn't help.

The log file shows this:

Any idea on how to solve this, or how to revert the setting by editing some file?

I've tried what is suggested in the link, but it didn't work.

Also, the problem reported on the link is a completely different problem. In that case, Voobly does run and open. In my case, it quits in less than 1 second after running (is not that the window doesn't show, but the Voobly process actually quits).
