Do you see a yellow exclamation next to the players nickname when you join a game room along with a fast proxy warning message?

Have you setup port forwarding on your router/modem to forward your NAT port to your computers private IP? If yes, could you provide a screenshot for the same?

remove/delete all temp saeves from here: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Age of Empires II\SaveGame\Multi
or
C:\Program Files[86]\Microsoft Games\Age of Empires II\SaveGame\Multi
have nothing running but the game.
consider forwarding port 16000udp on your router.
