"age of empires expansion has stopped working" can't play game on new

Hello, I moved files from my old laptop to my new PC build from 3 years ago. Now I get "age of empires expansion has stopped working" every time I launch it. I've tried changing compatibility with all versions of windows. I'm on Windows 7. I've tried a bat file to shut down explorer and it Still doesn't work.

Is this because I have an old no cd 1.0c Crack from years ago installed? or a new update from Microsoft to make me have to BUY this game again? (can't find my old CDs). Thanks

Hi,
Welcome to Voobly%20Favicon.png Technical Support Forums.
does the game run ok completely off of voobly?

(1) Host/Join any game room and set settings like this:

(2) Run your game (age2_x1.exe) under Compatibility Mod ► Windows 98 / Windows Me.

Cheers!

No, it no longer runs off offline of Voobly either after I've come back today a couple of years later.

Okay. Then you must clean reinstall your Game and Voobly again as follows:
  1. First, Uninstall your Game -&- Voobly, and open your program files and delete both related directory folder.
  2. Next, Perform a system reboot.
  3. Finally, reinstall back your Game and Voobly.
*Once you done, use the above settings #1118909 and play your game.
