Onoger is best choice, and always remember to keep a vil nearby your onogers to repair them.

If the skirms are upgraded britons, use cavalry as they will out-range your onoger. Unless you Korean.

If no gold then Hussars/Light cav

If opponent mix halbergiers with skirms then just mass skirm+hussar him back.

If you have smaller army, then fall back little bit to get some mass and then attack when your army size is high enough.

If you have gold then just paladin/champion/siege.
