Hello to all the team! I was recruited today to help revive AoK.

The general aim until now has been to 'somehow' get Aokers playing at GR to come to Voobly.
This has not worked very well for a couple of reasons:

1-) GR gets more new players compared to Voobly, and it is the influx of new players that keeps the game going. Plus, ratings tend to seriously corrupt new players.

2-) When Top Aokers go to Voobly, it is ironically to play AoC and not AoK.

3-) MOST people play AoK because they happen to prefer it over AoC. However, to get better they have but one option, and that is to play AoC.

There is only 1 SOLUTION to this problem: Tournaments!

Answer 1-) What makes a new player continue to play this game is the idea that 'one day' he will perhaps be as good as those TOP PLAYERS which he gets to see playing in tournaments. It is the joy of competition and the addiction that competition produces that makes one watch a rec in order to improve and get better.

Answer 2-) By introducing competition through tournaments we not only get Aokers to play but also Aocers. I think we need to change our focus to aocers. Once Aocers see well-organized tournaments being hosted at AoK, I'm sure that many would like to participate. New players will definitely be taken over by these big tournaments.

Answer 3-) Tournaments provide an impetus for players of all levels to improve and perfect their styles. This will inevitably increase activity.

Future Projects

For the coming Christmas Break, Taff suggested that we organize a 2-3 week showcase tournament to celebrate the new Era of Tournaments for both AoK and AoC. I came up with the following setup.

We host a mini single-elimination AoK Rm Tournament with a total of 8 clans - 4 AoK / 4 AoC.
The idea is to have a FFA Tournament, so not an AoK vs AoC one.

By inviting known and willing AoC clans, we get more Publicity for future tournaments.

This is just an idea though, so please do comment.

Take care,

Archer_0

Well, the only reason why AoCers would play in an AoK tournament is if there is some kind of prize. If not we will just be getting the same old AoK clans.

Maybe you're right that it should be open to all. My only concern was that many would be going to see their family on Xmas, and so be busy. If this is just me being paranoid, then we could host a 16 clan 3v3 tournament which will last for 4 weeks.

...with account prizes for top 3 clans, of course.
