The trial version download page is linked in there

Install the trial version, install patch 1.07

You can now play it online with other people.

The trial version is similar to how aoeo launched, using only two civilizations (Unfortunately these are the two most normal gameplay type civs in the game).

The game is also very limited on things like technologies/units compared to the full version.
