I think it would be nice to organize daily 1x1 RM tournaments, on the most played maps: Arabia, FullRandom, Arena. I let out LN because this map does not suit to 1x1, and BF because this map doesn't suit to time limit victory.
It could be named:
Master of Arabia 1v1 Serie #
Master of FullRandom 1v1 Serie #
Master of Arena 1v1 Serie #
Civilisations would be decided (Something like huns for arabia, vikings for fullrandom and aztecs for arena would suit to it perfectly)
As i wrote above, for time reasons, settings shall be BO1 until the Final in BO3, with a time limit victory, and a limit of 64players which means 5 rounds, 1 hour max per round and then 2hours max for the final.
The prize could be the same as the one offered in cs tournaments:
Depending on the number of players, i think you can decrease those prizes, by example:
32 players:
1st) 4 months platinum membership + Shield
2nd) 2 months gold membership + Shield
3rd) 2 months silver membership + Shield
Since many top players already have special membership, i suppose it's possible to give those prizes to winners by delaying the expiration date of their current one ?
Depending on how often voobly wants to offer the prizes , i could organize such a tourney once a month or once every 2 or even 3 months, usually a saturday or a sunday starting at 15gmt.
ps: I already organized such a tournament once (civil war) with more or less sucess, but after 2 tourneys the owner of the website (civcup) just spent the prize money at poker, i'm not sure the winner of the 2nd one even received his prize.
Please PLease Please organise few tournaments atleast in MONTH....
I never seen any tournament in RM .....since one year...would be a great idea if you can start this tournament....diffrent maps tournaments every month...and map of next tournament should be posted 1 month before tournament so that we all can practice a lot..
and same civic would be a best option...
i am really thankful to u that u should some interest in making tournament...
IMO we should begin our Voobly's RM tournament series with 1v1 first, which is easier to organize.
After the tournament series run smooth, we can head on to 2v2, 3v3, 4v4 and clan-vs-clan tournaments base on some statistics like number of players, and feedbacks.

Well daily seems just too much. Since there won't be scheduling for this, it'll be up to luck that enough players come, and if those players come they may just leave half way through.(this happened in boarball tourney). Imo, a bimonthly/monthly one would be better. List the maps to be played and people can sign up/train for them. Make the tournament last 2 weeks, (having ppl sign up for the next tournament while the current one is still being played); once that one is done start up the new one. Repeat. I think this style will make the tournaments be a bit more competitive and have the more committed players sign up.
I would love to see a 2v2 tourney , been so long since I've seen one. Always 1v1 or 3v3. 2v2 has a nice element of it's own

It is not really about luck, since people will have 2 weeks to signup. Also if the prizes are attractive enough, we shall get a decent amount of decent players. Many experts have a gold account, i'm sure they would be happy to win some exension trought voobly tourneys
The problem of a tournament lasting 2 weeks, is the scheduling issues, and also the works it takes from the admin. I proposed to manage this, but i sureley won't be able to spend every weekends for that. If it takes too much time, the final can be delayed, but nothing else shall be imo.
1 day a month/every 2 months/every 3 months sounds enough, as i wrote previously it all depends on how often voobly headmods can aford offering prizes.
Another possibility is a tourney based on current leagues formats, with a group stage (or straight brackets, depends on the numbers of players) and then playoffs, each round lasting 1 week and players scheduling trough a forum.
But this kind of tourneys takes like 3 months, the risk of players leaving half way trough seems much higher than the one in a tournament lasting 1 day.

Well fair enough. Both seem to have pros/cons. And if your going to manage one and feel most comfortable with a day tourney, then i agree .
P.S i think maybe was a misunderstanding between day tournament and daily . Day tournament with 2 week sign up will work good.
[ About the accounts, IMO only accounts with over (let's say) 100 games should be used.. MODs should also look the latest in-game stats of the latest games of the contestants.. ]

Players are usually seeded according to their rating, reputation, and past tourneys performance.
If someone wants to , then he will have obviously a harder bracket than the one he would have get if he had signup his highest account, that's the deal, no need to refuse lows-games account.
(Of course signing in more than one account is strictly forbidden lol)
However, if there are too much signup, a rating restriction (17+ by example) can be implemented.
Yeah.. Anyway, these 1x1 tournaments will make everybody happy ! More training, competition and fun of course ! It will bring more life to the game too! I hope these tournaments become true and work like a clock !

I think Voobly running it's own RM tournaments is well over due.
We will certainly look at running something for the RM community.
Thanks for your post

Now we have the rooms/server and man-power for tourney. Should we discuss the prizes and tourney settings with head mods first?

Get involved guys
On the other hand, the 1x1 scene is completely empty.
