This is the error im getting:

DirectPlay failed to load properly. This is probably an OS installation bug. You might need to reinstall your operating system. Windows 8.1 and later users can install DirectPlay through Control Panel -> Programs -> Turns Windows features on or off -> Legacy Components -> DirectPlay.

I just reinstalled the game following the steps in this link:https://support.voobly.com/display/vkb/KB1054+Clean+installation+of+Aoe2HD+with+compatibility+patch

but it didnt work please help

did you try the "win features" legacy components?

I solved the problem guys, i had to update windows so i could install DirectPlay
