How to set up an artificial intelligence?

How to set up artificial intelligence so that it does not attack itself, but only defended himself. I do amateur script. But some AI players do not have to attack me yourself. This type as in the first part of Genghis Khan. Units are just standing and waiting in their field of view seems the enemy. They themselves do not intersect.
