Saw this 10k RM tournament and I think another $ tournament for AoK RM.. Would be really nice to see any type of $ Tournament for CS. Of course theres the argument that its CS but I took a bit of time to think about it and theres some good sides to doing a tournament like this.

- Any amount even just a $100 prize.. I believe it would be the first cash prize tournament to ever happen in CS so just with that said there should be a lot of interest.
- Brings some honest competition.. people should take it really serious and practice/play more.
- Clan Tournament would be cool but I think just signing up with a team of 3/4 players you want to team with would be more realistic. If done as a clan tournament can try reusing daves idea which had potential a couple years back
- Maps up for discussion... but would be nice to add all aspects of CS in somehow (Bloods/CB's/Alt)
-As for how the $ will come up.. I dont mind putting in $5-10 even more if needed. I'm sure if the idea comes about and has a lot of interest/potential some people will want to pop in and donate a bit to make the cash prize a bit bigger.

of course this is a long shot but just want to see if theres any interest from VCOM first off to see sometihng like this happen.

Ehm that would bring all the lamers out in force, would be a hell of a hard event to control.

well obviously we dont reward lame gameplay.. ideally you bring a concept thats never been done for CS to make interest.. to hopefully support having the biggest turnout of a tournament ever. Put on a list of maps ranging from all aspects in CS so people that normally may not play one type of area in CS.. may take it more serious with money on the line. I know its a long shot since it is CS but I guess having a CS tournament like this is just a nice idea to think about... whether or not it can become a reality is something else.

It was my clan idea, Dave ran it as a Voobly mod but clans were too precious to continue.

I would not play a clan tourney for $10K. 3 months work for a chance in 1/3 or 1/4 in $10K?

You could this well if Charlie didn't get raped by the US and wanted to donate small amounts to 11v tourneys. As for TG, if I played a month of AOC I'd want a ****ing awesome pay to win a tournament.

a master of cs with the map pool of all rated maps with all the lame maps removed
could be entertaining if streaming is done with scheduling of the matches instead of the typical live tournament but the question is will cs players put in the effort needed for this?

The idea is fine.

The problem is getting clans / players other than the expected winners to donate.

If it's a clan event then obviously everyone will expect only the top clans to win the cash.

We need ideas that would show other players / clans that others have a chance of winning something too.

Thoughts?

I figured the clan idea would be a bit hard as people would just assume the more well rounded clans would take the prize most likely and not want to show up.

Theres 2 options with that said... Make a clan tournament.. imo the more glorious type of tournament where you play with your clanmates and see how well you do.. we build up the cash prize to as high as we can and give a good incentive for people to atleast participate and try... maybe even give incentives for silver/gold to the top 10 or so clans (if theres a large turnout)

or we just simply make it a 2v2/3v3/4v4 type tournament.. you sign up with your friends... doesnt matter about clan tag and we see how high the cash prize can be and we just aim for the biggest ever CS tournament + first ever Cash prize CS Tournament.

Theres enough good players who could reasonably be good across a range of maps of they had an incentive. At the moment there's no incentive beyond having one map in each ladder to ****. The concepts fine, its the organisation that seems a daunting task.

I don't mind running anything we can come up with.

Nothing we cannot achieve on that front.

Not until we can agree a very basic strategy on it.

well the main questions in my mind are what format we want to make the tournament.. 1v1-4v4.. have to decide that first off. Then if were gonna make it a Clan tournament or something else.. Clan tourney should be 3v3/4v4 atleast... or just a really standard tournament where you team with your friends and pick a team.

Then having the map pool as the most popular/viable/legit maps for competitive play. By legit I dont mean maps that are popular based on massed point ****s playing it over and over.. I mean maps that have good tournaments and are well used around voobly.

As for all that is there anything else you'd need sorted out, Taff?

Not an easy one but can anyone think of a handicap system that would have a slim chance of working lol

That would be cool, handicap all the better teams

Or scrap the idea of getting others to donate, just work on the top clans donating and then others will come to just have a go.
