Not this again people are just gonna say the civs they are good at, these are the unsuitable civs for 1v1
Byzantines: Can't really get an advantage with a patrol with that civ, whoever camps more should win.
Franks: Same as Byzantines but twice as bad, whoever fights closer to their base will win.
Huns: Hun war can go on indefinitely, it is too easy to block your towers, can work well for a CBA Hero game though.
Mayans: Takes too long for a tourney, games can last for 2 hours+.
Persians: All of the above reasons.
All other civs are fine, people who disagree or say they are noob civs probably just suck at them.

Could you expand on that by telling me which civs are virtually identical and therefore redundant?
I disagree with Celts , although it is played more commonly , I think Japs/Goths would be a better choice for infantry my reason being Celts is too much of a distraction civ and speed rather than a patrol civ. However this could be a reason for it , personally I find them just annoying to play with 1v1.
But for archer Mongols is definitely played the most.

They're all pretty much the same. Patrol, change stances, stop, repatrol, make some distractions. Really isn't much to it, if you're good at one I see no reason why you shouldn't be good at the others with some practice.
The ones that are more similar are the infantry civs, all the archer civs are played quite differently.

The problem with japs is it often takes too long becoming an imp deadlock with neither player able to take the advantage.
Just do Celt/Mong/Japs, most civs in 1vs1 are pretty r etarded and they all got flaws.
If you want to add aztec or goth instead of japs fine but lets just say that it will end after the first patrol.
