I don't think the host should be able to play in the tournament.
I really appreciate what Masta has done by hosting Maps I know he would want to play in and choosing not to play in order to effectively moderate. The host needs to always be available to settle disputes and moderate the tourney. Never mind the potential of being biased towards the outcome.
I played in the smosh 1v1 and I had no problem. I'm thinking its not such a big issue in a fast paced game.
If there was a bigger turnout of course, that mighty have been different.
Also I would hope that if you were playing in a tournmament you hosted and there was a dispute in your game that you would seek the opinion of others in deciding!
But ya I said something like :
4v4 Smosh was a disaster and one of the things that compounded the disaster was Kuvvy was the only moderator who knew what he wanted and he was more busy playing than moderating. Not an attack at Kuvvy or w/e just saying there were a-lot of people complaining and no one to really answer complaints.
2v2 aok cba had a situation that came about when Zanchy posted a false result. It took nearly 2 hours to resolve this issue. Me and Emi waiting in the finals while the other side still in 2nd round. I think the right decision was made but at an unacceptable duration. Imagine if the mod had been in a game if this same issue arose. It would of been an even worse disaster.
CBA 2v2 got really lucky that more problems did not develop. Luckily the two skilled camping teams were on different sides and didn't waste time until the near 5 hour final.
Point being the 'host' of a tournament should moderate the tournament. If one of us has an event we really want to host/play in than one of us who isn't so interested in playing the event should host it. I don't host events because most of them I want to play in and think it is conceptually wrong to host/play as im arguing here. I could volunteer to host a Master of Bloods event with perfect maps to my liking. It wouldn't be fair if I could play in that same event imo.
