Alright, after some discussion with Army1 we came up with some ideas which we'll present and get input from.
1. We need to make a setup that won't take 7 hours to complete a series vs a clan. We want to make it competitive and versatile which requires some compromise. My suggestion so far is to have a set go over two weekends at an Admin defined time (like how tournies work) to give amply time and freedom to get matches played.
2. The format will need a lot of input. I think we should try and narrow it to 2-3 different ways of setting it up so we can all get on the same page and then discuss from there.
A) Map pack of clan voted maps (10 max) and rely on Random mod- 1 veto allowed in a set. 3 sets of bo3/5 1v1s. 2 sets of bo3 2v2s. 1 set of 3v3 or 4v4 bo5.
B) Same as above but clans pick the maps they want to play instead of using random mod.
C) The above format Army1 proposed.
I think if someone can and I'd imagine will come up with a better option, we can edit the original post and setup discussions stemming from it.
3. Clans pay an entrance fee to encourage them to stick with the league. I find $50 more than enough for this type of event [$50 covers every player in your clan]. Every clan is capable of matching this. This way we get clans who are a little more committed to playing out the event. The caveat to this is we need a setup that is attractive and not likely to cause issues and upset people. Some of this comes to player discipline.
This also allows non-recognized clans a chance to get involved who wouldn't normally be invited to such events like Eot_
4. Donations and a top prize. So all the entry fees will go toward the top prize (or we can setup a 1st/2nd/3rd payout style). I will start off by throwing $500 into the kitty if we can all agree to a format and get a minimum of 4 clans signed up with a entrance fee paid. There are other people who said they are willing to donate as well. If people are concerned that their donations will not be secure, then I suggest we use Taff who's helping with the RM WiC tournament as the holder of the donations. Would anybody have a problem with this?
That's my thoughts so far. It would be awesome if we can get an official clans event off the ground for CS. With recent activity among clans, and with the relative success of Random League broadening the map range of all players involved, I think this is the best chance to succeed at this. With cash as a proper incentive, let's get this working.
would be simple if you asked for all of the popular maps for each section - taken an average of the most popular ones from each clan and set them .... no changes, then delete all of sean's comments from there on

This sounds a lot better already and imo has a lot better chance at succeeding. But i don't believe in any format for this that isn't heavily based on a random mod (random mod with relevant most played bloods without any bugs in the map pack).
That's how we want to pick the maps Zanchy. Each clan votes for 10 maps or something for each setup then tally off the popular ones so obscure maps aren't put in. It's the fairest and most competitive way we can think of doing this.
I'm fine with anything as long as this happens... I did tell army that his idea would probably take too long in the sets.. most would have to be over atleast 2 days and no one wants to do that.. you want to spend just a few hours on a sunday or whatever day is chosen to play some games and then move to the next opponent
I don't think an entrance fee is the right way to go, it's too much work figuring out who pays for the clan. Things should go as simply and smoothly as possible.
I am going to put more effort into trying to make this thing happen, I think it's highly likely that one or two clans will drop out before or during the tournament, if that happens we should be ready to go on without them or replace them.
I agree with your point of view. It's all about trying to brainstorm a way to keep clans interested if they're destined to finish in the bottom positions after losing a couple of early sets.
Well for the 1v1s if bo5 i was thinking a minimum of 3 different players and each player can only play a max of 2 games and cant play in both home picks. If it is bo3 simply just use 3 different players for each game. The 2v2s i think it would be fine to make sure you use a minimum of 3 different players in different combos?
1v1 bo5.. you have 3 simultaneous 1v1s.. then depending on the last 2 1v1s you can choose 2 of the same 3 who played.. or use another team member.. but at max someone can only play 2 matches in that set. 1v1 bo3 with 3 simultaneous 1v1s is fine too.
and 2v2 bo3 sounds okay.
and the veto idea where we get 2 vetos over all sets total including the rdm games is still in effect or something better been thought of for the veto?
Btw if XceL cant have atleast a team of 3 maybe their spot needs to be given up to a team like dv8? dv8 has atleast Kuvvy/stryker/Malte that can play 3v3 blood matches if needed as well as a CBA team. Only guys I can think of for XceL are cena/krasic and the rest are nowhere to be seen for a while now. Or another idea is that dv8 and XceL merge into a team for this tournament.

there would be no problem

What about 1v1 (bo5 or bo3), 2v2 (bo3) and 3v3/4v4 (bo5, 2 home maps each and cba hero decider if needed seeing how there was just a cba tourney)?
With deciders in the 1v1s and 2v2s being drawn from a random pack or maybe even a random pack decider for the 3v3/4v4
and 2v2 bo3 sounds okay.
