UPnP explanation

If you use the voobly NAT feature, you will not need UPnP. Forward port 16000udp to the private IP of the playing PC.

UPnP is a way of traversing a NAT router without setting up the ports on the router or setting a fixed IP.
UPnP works dynamically, only when the game or application calls for it, not before. The ports are not open permanently.

Your router needs to support the UPnP protocol
You can find your router here and how to access it

Points To Note

If you are directly connected to a true modem (one LAN port perhaps. no advanced features. no wireless.)
You do not need UPnP or any Port Forwarding. All ports are open. You do need a good PC firewall.
No CD is needed in the CD drive to play at Voobly.

Important.......Keep Up to Date With the Microsoft security updates and service packs

UPnP Works Dynamically, Only When You Call The Game Or Application Not Before. The Ports Are Not Open Permanently.
Remove any AGE game port settings you may have entered on the router. A fixed ip is not needed either.

Go To "Services" and find "SSDP discovery service" and make sure its running.
Also check you have allowed the game and Voobly through any PC fire walls, security and Virus applications you have running.

If it doesnt work

On any fire walls and pc security applications you have, allow port 5000 tcp/udp. port 1900 udp port 16000udp and port 2869 tcp.
This app may help with upnp but you still need it turned on in the router and on the pc

If it still doesnt work. configure the router and turn off UPNP on the router.

Does it work?

It should do
Is it safe.........been a lot of debate over UPnP. Here is some reading. Make your own decision. As it needs to pass through any firewalls and opens ports on its own to peer to peer programs
